Althea DeSouza

Director of Communications

My name is Althea DeSouza. I was born in Toronto, Canada on November 10, 1974. My parents are Errol and Brenda Nainee. They came to Canada from Hyderabad, India in 1973. I graduated from Humber College in 1994 with a diploma in Early Childhood Education. I also obtained an Educational Assistant Certification shortly after. By profession today, I am a Corporate Trainer and have worked in this role since 2003. I currently work for Investment Planning Counsel as a Learning Partner and Facilitator since September 2016. I live in Brampton, Ontario and have 3 children, my stepson Joshua and my 2 daughters, Kayla, and Ashlyn. I enjoy cooking, baking, travelling, and spending time with family and friends. I have participated in several community activities over the years such as the Relay for Life for the Canadian Cancer Society, the Angel Box (Christmas gift box for families in need), CN Tower Climb for the World Wildlife Foundation and many more. My family and I are members of the Anglo-Indian Association and we have attended various events over the years, such as the Anglo-Indian Reunion, Christmas dances, picnics, and the Summer Dance, to name a few. I have family members that have previously and are currently part of the committee. We are all looking forward to joining the events planned for this year. I have strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills. Professional competencies I have mastered in the corporate world strongly support this role as it relates to maintaining good relationships, keeping others abreast of news and information, ensuring that people are satisfied with the quality and quantity of services they receive from this organization and most of all, enjoying being part of this community. I understand and support the need for the Anglo-Indian Association in an effort to maintain our roots, our heritage, and our culture. I have attached my application for the position of Director of Communications with the Anglo-Indian Association of Canada. I believe that I am a good candidate for this position and can fulfill this role successfully. I have a strong belief in ‘giving back’ to communities, organizations, and helping people. I enjoy meeting new people and working with others towards a common goal. My parents were avid members of the association, and I learned all about the Anglo-Indian heritage and values from them along with the many families and friends we socialized with growing up. I have been a member of the Association for the past 2 years. I am thankful for the opportunity to apply for the position of Director of Communications on the Anglo-Indian Association’s Board of Directors. I assure you of my commitment and support and look forward to serving the Association for the next two years. I look forward to obtaining your vote for this position at the Annual General Meeting on April 28, 2024.
